Keep sliding while reducing friction from the surface

The Hybrit TORQWAVE™ is a surface torque oscillation solution for directional slide drilling. It applies controlled left-right drillstring oscillation from the top drive to reduce static friction, improve weight transfer and support faster toolface orientation while the BHA remains in sliding mode.

The system is engineered as a software-controlled drilling performance enhancer that integrates with rig control, torque response and directional drilling workflows. It is especially valuable in long laterals, high-friction intervals and motor BHA operations where slide drilling ROP and toolface response are constrained by drag.

Operating Principle

Surface oscillation command

The system sends controlled clockwise and counter-clockwise torque commands through the top drive while maintaining slide drilling objectives.

Friction reduction along the drillstring

Controlled oscillation reduces the tendency for the drillstring to lock against the wellbore, allowing energy and weight to transfer more effectively.

Toolface and WOB response

The system supports more responsive toolface adjustment and steadier WOB delivery, helping the directional driller maintain trajectory control.

Performance optimization loop

Torque response, hookload trend, MWD feedback and MXDRILL modeling can be reviewed to tune oscillation parameters for each interval.
